Minerals such as potassium, magnesium and zinc help normalize metabolism and strengthen the cardiovascular system.

  • In the morning: helps to wake up, improves concentration due to its caffeine content.  
  • In the evening: relaxes, if you drink it without sugar or with the addition of mint.  
  • On an empty stomach: promotes a gentle cleansing of the body, but in moderation to avoid stomach irritation.  
  • After meals: improves digestion, helps digestion of fats.  
  • At lunch: stimulates metabolism, maintains energy.

How to brew green tea properly

It is important to prepare green tea properly to retain all the beneficial properties.  

  1. The kettle should be steeped in boiling water before brewing.  
  2. The tea leaves are poured into water, the temperature of which is 70-80°C. 3.  
  3. The infusion should be steeped for 2-3 minutes.  

For those who like sweetness, you can drink tea with a little sugar or honey, but green tea is healthier without sugar.  

How much green tea you can drink 

The optimal amount of green tea is 3-4 cups a day. This is about 1-1.5 liters of the drink. 1 liter a day helps maintain water balance and strengthens health. 2 liters or more — this is too much, especially if the tea is strong, as it can cause nervous excitement or strain on the kidneys.

  • Odor absorption. Green tea is able to absorb surrounding odors. Therefore, it can be used to remove unpleasant odors from hands, for example, after cutting fish.

  • Rich vitamin composition. Green tea contains vitamins C, P, B, K, PP, A, D, E, as well as trace elements such as fluoride, zinc, iodine, copper, manganese and phosphorus. 
  • Antioxidants. The drink is rich in polyphenols, powerful antioxidants that help fight free radicals and slow down the aging process. 
  • Culinary use. In some Asian countries, green tea leaves are added to soups and used as a flavoring, expanding its use beyond a regular beverage.
  • China. Home of green tea, where it has been cultivated for more than 4,000 years. Main regions: Zhejiang, Yunnan, Fujian and Anhui provinces.  
  • Japan. Specializes exclusively in green teas. Popular regions: Shizuoka, Uji (Kyoto) and Kagoshima. Japanese tea is known for its processing techniques, especially the matcha and sencha varieties.  
  • Kenya. The main supplier of tea to the world market. Kenyan green tea is popular due to its high altitude plantations.  
  • UNITED STATES. Some states, such as South Carolina, are experimenting with green tea cultivation.

Harm of green tea

Despite the numerous benefits, green tea can cause harm if consumed excessively. On an empty stomach in large quantities, it can cause heartburn or stomach discomfort. Excess caffeine leads to insomnia and nervousness. Drinking strong tea in the evening sometimes interferes with relaxation and falling asleep.   

Green tea is a tasty and healthy drink, which, when used properly, promotes good health. You can drink it in the morning, at lunch or in the evening, it is only important to observe moderation. Regular consumption in reasonable quantities will help prevent many diseases and keep the body in tone.
